Our Alpaca is naturally
Alpaca is Temperature Regulating, Dry or Wet
Although our alpacas live right here on the farm in Westport, MA, their ancestors fiber allowed them to thrive 10,000 ft above sea level across the Andes Mountain range.
Today those naturally insulating fiber attributes live on and continue to improve with each generation.
Alpaca’s semi-hollow fibers trap air and warmth against the skin, acting as a natural insulation while staying both lightweight and breathable.
Like the alpacas themselves, your feet will thrive no matter the extreme conditions!
Alpaca is Moisture Wicking & Breathable
Unlike most synthetic and cotton based socks, Alpaca can absorb over 30% of its weight in moisture and still maintain all of its warmth and thermal regulating properties.
It’s also naturally hydrophobic, meaning it repels moisture, moving it away from your foot to the outside of the sock where it can evaporate, keeping you comfortable for longer periods of time spent exploring the great outdoors.
Alpaca is Hypo-Allergenic & Odor Resistant
Alpaca contains no lanolin found in sheep’s wool, which causes the majority of allergic reactions to wool.
Alpaca helps remove water vapor away from your skin, preventing bacteria from building up and causing odor.
Although we could never recommend it, we’ve had repeat customers let us know they wear their alpaca socks for weeks at a time before washing!
The Best Part?
Alpaca is Good for the Planet!
Alpaca is an all natural, renewable resource and it’s a sustainable fiber.
Alpacas tread lightly on the earth with their soft padded feet. Their efficient digestive systems require less food and produce an awesome fertilizer.
Alpaca fiber doesn’t require any harsh chemical treatments during processing (like sheep’s wool, cotton, and synthetics). No alpacas are harmed during shearing and fiber harvest, it’s actually a vital process to their well being.
All of our products are U.S. Grown, U.S. Made and utilize the fiber we grow each year on our farm.
By utilizing a natural renewable fiber grown in the U.S. and utilizing U.S. textile mills, the carbon footprint for our alpaca products is low throughout it’s entire life cycle, from farm to garment!
